Karen's Funeral Potatoes

2 lbs. frozen Southern hash potatoes
½ C melted butter
½ t salt
¼ t pepper
½ C onion (chopped)
1 C cream of chicken soup
1 C sour cream
2 C grated cheddar cheese
crushed croutons

Preheat oven to 350*. Defrost potatoes, mix in ingredients. Put crushed croutons (or bread crumbs, or crushed potato chips) on top. Bake at 350˚ for 45 minutes- 1 hr 45 mins.
